Elle au contact de la voie ferr\u00e9e Nancy-Strasbourg et du canal de la Marne au Rhin, tous deux traversant le site.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><em>En tant qu&rsquo;usine chimique, elle fait partie du groupe d&rsquo;usines dites \u00ab tubulaires \u00bb, o\u00f9 tuyaux, chemin\u00e9es et conduites \u2013 et parfois machines \u00ab out-door \u00bb \u2013 sont visibles et offrent une signature paysag\u00e8re tr\u00e8s particuli\u00e8re.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><em>L&rsquo;usine Novacarb, employant environ 400 personnes, fait partie du groupe chimique Novacap, cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 2003 et dont le capital est d\u00e9tenu majoritairement par le fonds d&rsquo;investissement am\u00e9ricain Bain Capital.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><em>Cette usine, dite soudi\u00e8re de la Madeleine, fabrique aujourd&rsquo;hui essentiellement du carbonate de soude utilis\u00e9 dans la verrerie, la chimie ou la d\u00e9tergence.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><em>Sur le site, les hangars m\u00e9talliques jouxtent les diff\u00e9rentes tours de distillation ou de carbonatation qui, \u00e0 partir de la saumure (eau sal\u00e9e extraite par sondages) et de la chaux, permettent d&rsquo;obtenir le produit souhait\u00e9. Le projet Novawod consiste \u00e0 moderniser les moyens de production d\u2019\u00e9nergie vapeur du site de La Madeleine en utilisant un combustible renouvelable : la biomasse. Afin d\u2019assurer un approvisionnement durable et responsable, la biomasse utilis\u00e9e sera issue de bois r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration : 60% sera collect\u00e9 dans la r\u00e9gion Grand Est (mobilier, parquet, portes, palettes\u2026 en provenance de centres de collecte r\u00e9gionaux) et 40% proviendra de traverses de chemin de fer remplac\u00e9es sur le r\u00e9seau ferr\u00e9 national. A terme, la centrale produira 115 GWh d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 verte par an, soit l\u2019\u00e9quivalent de la consommation de 65 000 foyers. de jonction relie le canal de la Marne au Rhin et le canal des Vosges. Il commence \u00e0 Messein, en Meurthe-et-Moselle, traverse Ludres, Fl\u00e9ville et Nancy pour arriver \u00e0 Laneuveville-devant-Nancy \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9cluse 25. Il est \u00e9galement appel\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Embranchement de Nancy\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0Vall\u00e9e de Cayenne\u00a0\u00bb par les bateliers qui n&rsquo;appr\u00e9ciaient gu\u00e8re d&rsquo;avoir \u00e0 franchir 18 \u00e9cluses pour un trajet de 10km. Le canal de Nancy avait \u00e9t\u00e9 ferm\u00e9 \u00e0 la suite d&rsquo;un effondrement de digue au PK8. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 rouvert en 2012, et on peut \u00e0 nouveau, boucler le tour de Nancy en empruntant tour \u00e0 tour, la Moselle, le canal de la Marne au Rhin puis ce petit canal de
